Kate Moss Bangin' Motorcycle Chic
This post was saved as a draft as were some others. Though old, still thought I would post since I LOVED this editorial of Kate Moss in Vogue UK. I think the bangs make her seem even more youthful albeit really sexy a la motorcycle chic.

More Braids...
Braids are still being espied everywhere. This post was also saved so it's at least a year old. Still looking fresh and sweet. More casual on the left is Lauren Conrad, and a bit more spiffed up on Jessica Alba on the right. Are you wearing braids? Send pics please.

The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef

Speaking of Wildflowers... while out and about today this window display, "The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef" around 9th and Broadway caught our eye. I first thought - ohhh flowers, but these beautiful, wildly colored crochet coral reefs are displayed trying to bring awareness to how global warming is affecting them. Love that they are making this statement with beauty, craft and a wide array of colors. For more information check out this blog - seems this exhibit travels around.

If Not Bangs... Braids!
If you aren't a "bang" girl perhaps you are a "braid" girl. :) Think Nicole Richie looks really cute here with her braids. You can be sure you will be seeing more braids...

ESPIED: Still Bangin!
Le bangs are still going strong. Some new recent "bang" additions on Heidi Klum, Rachel Bilson (like the pony tail best) and Many Moore.

ESPIED: Nicole Richie looking ALOT like Kate Moss
I happened upon this picture of Nicole Richie out and about post-birth today and found her outfit quite reminiscent of one I'd seen on Kate Moss quite a long time ago... so I had to investigate further. You be the judge, but down to the hair I'd say they are almost carbon copies. Who's to blame Nicole Richie? Kate Moss has some amazing style. At least she is not wearing a red scarf. Oui!

GO THERE: The Happiest Place on Earth...
According to many many studies is Denmark. Watch this clip as Morely Safer reports on 60 Minutes. I think they have the right idea- puts things into perspective.

SEE: Gustavo Dudamel 60 Minutes
This past week, 60 Minutes, did a story on Gustavo Dudamel- the 26 year old conductor from Venezuela who has been thrilling audiences around the world. He was recently named the Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (beginning 2009), and though you may want to balk at his age- just take a minute to watch the clip and see him in action. His passion for music will move you, his energy will inspire you, and just like me you will be searching round for some tickets to catch a glimpse of him live in action.

SEE IT: Pricked/Extreme Embroidery
The Museum of Arts and Design is running a fantastic exhibit, Pricked: Extreme Embroidery until April 27th, 2008. If you are in NYC during this time, you should check it out. I wish they had featured some additional pieces on their site (don't think it's a good range of the vast work they have on display) and if I was allowed to photograph I would have posted, but alas you cannot. They are all interesting- you will be surprised by the intricate detail, and their charm and wit. They do a good job of bringing embroidery mainstream while not abandoning the craft and artistry. It's hard to pick a favorite since I liked them all, but if I had to... the one I remember most is by a Japanese artist who instead of using paints - used a needle and thread as her brush as she embroidered freehand different portraits on a fine fine mesh. If you took a step back you would think she sketched them out. Amazing!

ESPIED: Finca Bellavista Sustainable Rainforest Community
I think this looks amazing (and sort of reminds me of Star Wars a la the Ewoks)! How cool would it be to live in a Rainforest in a tree house that is sustainable???! It's located on the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Inhabitat has an article here and you can also go directly to their site for more information.

ESPIED: Rachael Bilson Asymmetrical Gold Dress
In case you were still pondering or wondering about the asymmetrical designs of late- they are still going strong. I love asymmetry since it still (even with all the starlets snapped in one of late) isn't so common and I gravitate towards things that are a little "off". Here is Rachael Bilson wearing an asymmetrical number at her Jumper Movie premiere. Think she looks rather lovely.

SEE IT: Beauty In Motion Diana Vishneva
If you haven't already seen Diana Vishneva- you have a couple more days to catch her at the City Center performing, "Beauty In Motion". There are 3 "acts" - all enjoyable, however the 2nd set was my favorite. Though many performances are beautiful to watch and well appreciated- not many completely take your breathe away. You won't dispute her being described as "the ballerina of the moment" or "the one to watch", but you may be envious of her sinewey, lithe, very defined and poised limbs. Well worth it and inspiration may abound.

ESPIED: How Darling is this Star Dress!
Worn effortlessly by Leighton Meester. If you look closely the "white" are stars and the bodice edges are left unfinished adding some extra zest. Also, love the asymmetrical strap - for some additional simple detail. Tres chic!

ESPIED: Tord Boontje's Icarus & the Black Sickle Bill Bird of Paradise
The latest design by Tord Boontje (he won numerous awards for the fabulous Garland light) is Icarus- a multi-layered extruded polyester pendant lamp, which I think is reminiscent of the Black Sickle Bill Bird of Paradise as seen on this clip (Garden of Eden) from 60 Mintues. Click there to see the entire segment- pretty amazing and design inspiring! oui!

ESPIED: Stylin' Casual Duos
Normally I would edit out the guys (sorry dudes), but realized how cute and lovey-dovey everyone was looking, and decided to leave them in. Plus the guys were stylin' too in their casual get-ups. Notice the stripes, plaids, jeans and rocker tees. Easy.

ESPIED: The Rolling Exhibition

Wow! Get ready to see some fantastic pictures! And perhaps be inspired... I am.
These photos are shot from a different viewpoint of the world, as Kevin Connolly, albeit healthy was born without legs- and has inspired a natural curiosity and many questions from those he comes across.
While on a trip abroad and tired of all the stares, Connolly took his first picture as a way to stare back. It inspired a collection of over 32,000 photos- all capturing the stares he receives. Most are taken while traveling about on his skateboard- his favorite way to get around. Please visit, The Rolling Exhibition where you can see more of his work.

SEE IT: Persepolis
Receiving critical acclaim, Persepolis, is a pleasingly simple animated poignant coming of age story about precocious and outspoken young Iranian girls that begins during the Islamic Revolution. From directors Vincent Paronnaud and Marjane Satrap, and is based on Satrap’s graphic novels. It is completely different in terms of the flashy animation we might be used to- giving it an artistic edge and telling a story not many are familiar with. Go check it out.
